Welcome from the Head

Welcome to Rookwood School

We are a school which values each child as an individual, fosters a love of learning and, above all, is a happy place to learn.

As a non-selective school, we do not ‘cherry-pick’ those children who happen to do well in a set of exams when they were young. However, we do expect the very best from our pupils. This philosophy is not about reaching potential, it is about growing potential: giving our pupils the opportunities and encouragement to help them understand that they can achieve much more than they first realise.

Rookwood’s motto, sapere aude, translated as ‘dare to know’, is clearly seen in everything we do. Our pupils are challenged to have courage, to learn new things, to develop new skills and to deepen their understanding. As a result, our pupils leave Rookwood with the essential character traits of integrity, tenacity and respect for others, and with excellent exam results.

To really understand what we do, I encourage you to visit us and see for yourself.
