Beyond Year 11

At Rookwood, our commitment to our pupils does not end when they complete their GCSEs. As pupils approach the end of Year 11, we work closely with them and their families to identify the post-16 pathway that best matches their ambitions, interests and individual needs. We recognise that there is no single route that is right for every young person. Some will want to continue their academic studies within a school environment, while others may choose a more vocational programme at a local sixth form college. We are fortunate to be situated in an area with an exceptional range of post-16 opportunities, including highly regarded sixth form co leges across Hampshire, the grammar school system in neighbouring Wiltshire and a number of large independent schools offering Sixth Form
provision.

Pupils can continue their education at any of the Sixth Forms provisions within the group (subject to the usual entrance requirements) as either:

  • Day provision – a lowing pupils to continue living at home, family or a guardian while studying at another ILG school.
  • Weekly boarding – combining the independence and wider opportunities of boarding during the school week while returning home at weekends.
  • Full boarding – providing an immersive Sixth Form experience with the academic, pastoral and co curricular opportunities that come with boarding school life.

Eligible pupils progressing to a participating ILG Sixth Form will pay the equivalent of their final Rookwood Year 11 fee for their chosen provision, fixed throughout Years 12 and 13. We hope this provides families with valuable reassurance and the ability to plan ahead with confidence.

As part of a wider family of schools, we are pleased to offer Rookwood pupils the opportunity to attend a Sixth Form provision at other ILG schools while retaining the reassurance of remaining within a group that shares our commitment to knowing and supporting each young person

Whether a pupil continues within ILG or chooses a local sixth form college, grammar school or another independent school, our approach remains the same: to help every young person make an informed and ambitious choice about what comes next. For those wishing to continue within the ILG family, the opportunity offers something particularly valuable: a new Sixth Form experience, with new opportunities and greater independence, while retaining the support and shared values of a wider educational community that already knows Rookwood and its pupils.
