Exam Results

Year on year success

Rookwood School maintains a strong track record for exam success at GCSE level and we were delighted to see the results from our first A-Level cohort in August 2023.

GCSE Results 2023

Rookwood School is delighted to share another excellent year of GCSE exam results that reflect the school’s commitment to providing a highly supportive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive regardless of their starting point.

Students achieved grades well above the national average, with 85% of students achieving grade 4 or above (equivalent to a C) and 30% of grades being awarded Grade 7 or above, equivalent to an A or A*. Particularly pleasing is the percentage of students achieving Grade 9 – the highest grade possible – with a 4% increase this year compared to pre-pandemic results.

Commenting on this year’s results, Mr. Anthony Kirk-Burgess, Headmaster of Rookwood School, said “As a non-selective school, we are always delighted with the progress our students make during their time at Rookwood. Students develop their skills both academically and more broadly through their extra-curricular activities. As expected, as a result of exams regulator Ofqual returning to pre-pandemic grading levels, our results are lower this year, but we are delighted with our students’ overall grades.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our students for their outstanding achievements and thank our dedicated staff and supportive community for their unwavering commitment to Rookwood’s success.”

Some notable achievements include:

  • Drama: 57% of our Drama students achieved Grade 8 or 9.
  • Geography: 23% of our Geography students achieved Grade 9.
  • Biology and Physics: 57% of our Biology and Physics students achieved Grade 7 or above.
  • Design and Technology (DT): 50% of our DT students achieved Grade 7 or above.

A Level Results 2023

Rookwood School is thrilled to receive its first set of A Level results following the launch of our Sixth Form in September 2021. With an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development, Rookwood School’s Sixth Form has achieved a 100% pass rate at A Level, with an impressive 63% of grades achieved at grade B or higher.

Mr Anthony Kirk-Burgess, Headmaster of Rookwood School, expressed his pride and enthusiasm about the outstanding achievement. “These A Level results are a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students and teachers alike. The success of our first A Level cohort reinforces Rookwood School’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only academically accomplished but also equipped with the skills and confidence to excel in their chosen paths. We are immensely proud of our students, and they should be proud of themselves.”

As Rookwood School celebrates its first set of A Level results, it looks forward to building a legacy of academic excellence and holistic education, equipping students with everything they need to make a meaningful impact in the world.
