Rook News Autumn 2021 – Performing Arts

We’ve been able to present some incredible performances this term including the Christingle and Carole Services. In the lower school we virtually hosted our Tea Concert. Each year group were able to showcase some of the first terms learning by displaying skills related to topics we have been listening, performing, and composing for.

Year 10 and 11 Drama and Music students went to see Willy Russell’s award winning play ‘Blood Brothers’ at The Mayflower in Southampton.  They were so excited to be back in the theatre!

In the Senior school the GCSE classes have been busy preparing for their GCSE solos. There have been wonderful sounds circulating the department for the past term and we hope you enjoy performances from Lily and Xen.

Two of our students, Annie and Angel, have been working on their entries for the ISA Musical Theatre competition taking place in the coming months. You can enjoy watching Annie’s performance here.

Our senior school orchestra have been rehearsing Star Wars and Christmas pieces, whist our soul band have been rehearsing some soul favourites including Superstition, In The Midnight Hour as well as a Blues Brothers Rockin’ Soul Revue.

Senior and lower school choirs have been busy learning all of their songs ready to attend Voice In A Million at Wembley Arena in March. We are excited to be part of the biggest school concert in the country.

And finally, Rookwood students continued their success in their LAMDA exams, celebrating their success at being awarded very high marks for their private Drama examinations. Extra special congratulations to Annie, Alexandra and Bethan for gaining UCAS points having achieving Distinctions in their advanced level.
