Admissions Process

Support at every step of the process

At Rookwood School, we understand that choosing the right school for your child is an extremely important decision for your family and we will help and support you in any way we can.

Our Registrar will be your main point of contact throughout the admissions process and will ensure that it is as smooth as possible.

Visiting the school

You are welcome to visit the school. You can visit us on one of our Open Mornings or we can arrange a private tour with our Head. On either occasion, you will have the opportunity to view the independent school and meet the staff and pupils. If you are interested in boarding, we can also arrange for you to meet our boarding parents and see our boarding houses.

Nursery

Children are admitted into Little Rooks Nursery at the beginning of the half-term after their second birthday. There are therefore six main entry dates throughout the year. If there is a waiting list, it is arranged in order of date of registration and date of birth.

NURSERY

Reception

Children are admitted into the Reception class in September following their fourth birthday. Priority for places is as follows:

  • Siblings of existing pupils
  • Children already in our Nursery School
  • Other children, taken in order of date of registration

LOWER SCHOOL

Years 1 to 6

Children are admitted at any time if space permits. The prospective pupil is required to spend a day in school with a class of the appropriate age and parents are asked to bring copies of their most recent school reports. We also require a reference from the child’s present school.

LOWER SCHOOL

Years 7 to 11

The main point of entry for the Senior School is to Year 7 but pupils are admitted in other years if space permits. Pupils from Year 6 at Rookwood are automatically offered a place in Year 7; external candidates are asked to spend a day with Year 6 and to bring their recent school reports. Any candidate, whether internal or external, for Year 7 is eligible to apply for a scholarship; the school offers academic scholarships as well as awards in Art, Music and Sport. If the year group is oversubscribed, places will be offered in order of date of registration.

SENIOR SCHOOL
