Drama & Theatre

Back to Subjects

What’s it all about?

This course offers the students the opportunity to explore drama both as a theoretical and practical art form, in which ideas and meaning are communicated to an audience through choices of form, style and convention.

A Level Drama and Theatre gives students the chance to work closely in groups and take part in performances of both scripted plays and their own devised work. This is a subject for anyone who is interested in analysing drama texts and performance.

What skills will I need to be successful?

You will need to be able to work as a team player, taking on a commitment to attend extra rehearsals. You will need to develop strong communication skills, a focussed mindset, and the ability to ‘think outside the box’. Above all, you must have a passion for Drama!

Where can it take me in the future?

While students can progress on to higher education in the form of drama, theatre studies, performing arts and production courses, they will also develop skills that are not just essential for Drama, but applicable to a wide range of higher education subjects and in the workplace. This course refines your collaborative skills, improves your analytical thinking and your approach to research.
