What’s it all about?
A Level Chemistry is about how the substances that make up the world around us interact with each other. The course picks up from Double Award GCSE and delves deeper and into more detail. It is not easy, but it is fun (most of the time)!
What skills will I need to be successful?
A Level Chemistry is conceptually challenging but very rewarding. You need to be a good abstract thinker, able to imagine particles that you cannot see. You also need to be a problem solver – someone who can think logically and with clear reasoning. A good understanding of Mathematics is also essential – indeed most A Level Chemists also take Maths.
Where can it take me in the future?
An A Level in Chemistry opens up doors! If you want to become a doctor, dentist, veterinarian, pharmacist, research scientist or science teacher, you should consider Chemistry. Indeed, the analytical skills developed through the course are highly respected by employers in a wide range of other fields, including accounting, business and, in the case of at least one former Prime Minister, politics!
