Over the past few weeks, Reception class has been on an exciting journey exploring the five senses and learning how they help us make sense of the world around us.
We’ve been busy with fun activities that engage each of our senses:
- Listening: Through sound-based games, pupils sharpened their listening skills and discovered how we use sound to understand our environment.
- Sight: We explored colours and their impact, marvelling at the beauty of the world through different shades.
- Smell: Our noses were put to the test as we had fun identifying a variety of food smells—everything from sweet to savoury!
- Taste: We challenged our taste buds by sampling different flavoured jelly beans, trying to guess each unique flavour.
- Touch: When exploring textures, we thought of adjectives to describe the feel of objects around us, while learning what is safe (and not safe) to touch to keep ourselves protected.
This sensory exploration has not only been educational but has also helped pupils become more aware of how their senses play a vital role in everyday life. It’s been a wonderful way for our Reception class to learn about themselves and the world they live in.
