Our Reception Class has been focusing on the importance of teamwork, and this week, they put their skills to the test in a unique outdoor learning experience. The children worked collaboratively to create a beautiful mandala using natural materials they had collected, such as leaves, twigs, and stones—all items that had already fallen to the ground.
Before starting their project, the class learned about the significance of mandalas, which means “circle” or “centre” Mandalas are used in many cultures for meditation, promoting calmness and relaxation. This project was the perfect extension of our PSHE “Calm Me” activities, where pupils practice visualising peaceful spaces to foster inner peace and tranquillity.
The pupils showed great enthusiasm and teamwork as they gathered materials and arranged them into a harmonious design. The activity not only strengthened their collaboration skills but also reinforced the importance of mindfulness and finding calm in nature.
