Reception class learns new physical skills

Reception in PE class

In Physical Development, Reception Class has been busy learning a variety of new skills. Each lesson begins with fun warm-up games like collecting treasure in teams or turning cones into cups and saucers, helping pupils get their bodies moving and ready for action!

With Mrs Kerrison’s guidance, the pupils felt their heart rates after warming up, discovering how fast their hearts were beating after exercise. They also practiced listening carefully to instructions, learning to throw and catch their own beanbags with two hands before progressing to using just one hand.

To improve their throwing technique, the pupils focused on positioning, ensuring their opposite leg was forward when throwing a ball upwards or ahead. This important step helps build coordination and control, skills they’re eager to practice further during playtime with friends.

Reception Class is excited to apply these new skills in the playground and continue developing their physical abilities through fun games and activities!
