Prep School opportunites

Rookwood has always understood that developing a child is about so much more than academic success.  With over 100 weekly extracurricular clubs in a typical term, we offer a wide variety of opportunities to help develop a child’s confidence, resilience and strength of character.

Fully inclusive opportunities

Our all-embracing inclusive approach ensures that every child feels secure and supported, giving them the courage to tackle new opportunities and discover talents they didn’t know they possessed. In the Prep School, we offer children exciting challenges such as the Prince William Award, charity fundraisers, drama productions, sports, arts, technology clubs and more. Above all, the choice is created by the imagination and enthusiasm of our pupils – which is limitless!

Clubs, trips and outside adventures

Resilience, teamwork, independence and risk taking are all qualities we develop within Rookwood children. Therefore, clubs, trips and residential visits are all a huge part of school life and they are always fun! There is a vast termly clubs programme which gives the children the opportunity to take part in a range of activities such as chess, trampolining, mine craft, art, eco committee, multi sports, choir and many more. Every term to reinforce the classroom learning and deepen the understanding of the topics the children are visited or visit places such as the Sea City Museum, Pizza Express, Windsor Castle, The Roman Baths, author visits and theatre groups.

Community Participation

Throughout the year the Prep School is fully immersed in themed events such as Science week, Maths day, Queens Jubilee and Book Day. The children in Years 4, 5 and 6 spend 4 days on a residential trip each year testing their courage, putting themselves outside of their comfort zones, experiencing new things and developing their independence. This is a favourite week for staff and children
