Butterfly Room learn about Recycling

This week, our tuff tray was transformed into a miniature recycling beach, where children used tweezers to help “clean” the beach and sea by picking up rubbish and placing it into the appropriate recycling bins. This hands-on activity not only made learning fun but also highlighted the significance of keeping our environments clean.

In the art area, the children created beautiful representations of our planet using shades of green and blue. During this activity, we engaged in thoughtful discussions about how rubbish affects our planet and explored ways we can help protect the environment and the animals that inhabit it.

In our Math’s area, the Butterflies participated in a sorting game where they learned to distinguish between items that can and cannot be recycled. They sorted through various materials, placing them into two groups: rubbish and recycling. This engaging game helped reinforce their understanding of recycling while developing their sorting and categorisation skills.

During group time, we explored our recycling donations, sorting them into categories based on material. The children eagerly discussed the different types of materials and why recycling is crucial for our planet.

Through these activities, our Butterflies are not only learning about recycling but also becoming mindful stewards of the environment.
