Kindness MorningsWednesday December 9, 2020
On 30th September and 2nd October, the Lower School enjoyed spending their mornings completing various team building activities as part of their kindness project. The children enjoyed harnessing their teamwork skills to complete a raft of challenges.
Reception Class read a story entitled ‘Have You Filled a Bucket Today?’ which talks about showing kindness towards others, helping to build our invisible buckets full of happiness. The pupils made their own buckets and have been filling them up with pompoms in return for doing kind and helpful things at school. The buckets were all very full by Friday!
Year 1 made kindness cards for a peer in the class, taking time to find out what their partner likes and writing down a reason why they think they are great. There were smiles all round when they shared their cards!
The pupils also thought about how they could support each other whilst making kindness sock puppets. They even performed a puppet show thinking about how their puppets could demonstrate kind acts.
Year 2 enjoyed working in pairs using Lego to construct animals as well as constructing Hama bead patterns, based on what their partner liked.
Year 3 worked together to untangle a spiders web of string, assemble a jigsaw (the pieces of which they have to collect with Vaseline stuck to their noses), keeping balloons in the air or between their bodies and seeing how many bodies they could get on a piece of paper.
Year 4 used the letters in their names to think about good characteristics about themselves and also make Kindness paper chains.
Over the two mornings, Year 5 took part in two Maths murder mystery tasks, a spot the difference and a Lego Challenge.
After each task they were given a number towards the combination of the padlock. It was a race against time to be the first team to crack the code and release the prize!
Year 6 used their problem solving skills working together to complete an escape room and built cardboard marble runs, with the challenge to get the ball to the bottom corner in the slowest time!
