Starting a new school can be a daunting prospect for every member of the family. The thought of then needing to switch school again, either at the start of the new school year or midway through the year, may be an even more unsettling proposition. But it need not be so, and at the end of the day, if a move ends up resulting in a child being happier, more settled and finding the support, care and friendships that they need to thrive academically, the move will be even more worthwhile.
Switching schools midway through the year is more common than you realise. Last year 25 pupils joined Rookwood School after the year had started, covering age ranges from Reception Class to Year 10.
Rookwood’s philosophy is founded upon supporting a child’s individual needs, through having small classes and personalised learning, with excellent teaching and pastoral care. The school offers a kind and nurturing environment, where a child can thrive.
