About Rookwood

At Rookwood, we are proud to offer an international boarding experience rooted in care, community, and opportunity. Our school welcomes boarding students aged 8–18 from across the globe, offering them not only a strong British education, but a sense of belonging that lasts far beyond their time here.

Our Programmes

Our short-stay immersion programmes give international students a meaningful and memorable taste of British school life. Whether staying for a week or longer, students are fully immersed in the Rookwood experience – joining lessons, forming friendships, and exploring the culture.

Each bespoke group visit includes:

  • Full integration into academic lessons alongside British students
  • English language support (if needed)
  • Boarding in our welcoming, modernised houses
  • Access to sports, arts, and co-curricular activities
  • A varied programme of cultural visits and excursions

We tailor each programme to suit the needs of:

  • Partner schools and international school groups
  • Language and culture camps
  • Educational agencies organising seasonal visits
  • Students aged 8–16

Rookwood offers a friendly and fun boarding environment where every student is known, supported, and celebrated. Our boarding houses are run by experienced staff who understand the needs of international students and provide round-the-clock care.

Perfectly positioned for adventure

Rookwood’s location in southern England is ideal for cultural exploration. Just over an hour from London and surrounded by iconic destinations, students enjoy excursions to places such as:

  • Stonehenge – the world-famous prehistoric monument
  • Highclere Castle – the real Downton Abbey!
  • Windsor Castle – home of the British monarchy
  • Bath – with its Roman baths and Georgian architecture
  • Oxford and the Cotswolds – a blend of history and charm
  • The South Coast – from beaches to ancient ports

These trips are carefully planned to enrich students’ language skills, historical knowledge and global awareness – all while having fun!

Located within easy reach of Heathrow, Gatwick, and Southampton airports, Rookwood is perfectly placed to welcome international students. Whether joining us from Europe, Asia, or beyond, travel is simple and stress-free.

Exciting developments to Boarding

A refurbishment programme was completed in September 2025 to enhance the boarding experience we offer.

This has included refurbished bedrooms and bathrooms for enhanced comfort and privacy as well as revitalised recreational areas perfect for socialising and unwinding.
