Last week marked the exciting launch of our new Sixth Form Book Club, where two groups gathered on Tuesday morning to discuss two diverse books: Common Ground by Naomi Ishiguro and The Passengers by John Mars. At Rookwood, we believe that reading for pleasure is an enriching experience, and the club is designed to inspire a love of literature while enhancing vocabulary and literacy skills.
In addition to enjoying the stories, we hope the discussions will deepen students’ understanding of human connections and perspectives. Both books explore the value we place on others and challenge prejudices, offering plenty of opportunities for meaningful conversations. By the end of the year, students will also have a range of books they can confidently discuss in university or job interviews, adding to their personal and academic growth.
