A small group of our senior pupils, accompanied by Mr Brooker, recently spread some holiday cheer with a lively and interactive festive play titled ‘Santa’s Dilemma’. This 20-minute pantomime performance, directed by Mrs Blackmore and Mrs Parsons, was brought to Wherwell Primary School and St Mary Bourne Primary School on Friday 6th December, before being performed to our Prep School pupils.
The talented performers, Annabelle N, Annabelle S, Josie, Samantha, Jess, Dariia, and Mr Brooker, delighted audiences with their entertaining portrayal of the classic Christmas conundrum. The play brought laughter and festive spirit to the children at Wherwell Primary and St Mary Bourne Primary School, followed by a wonderful reception from our Prep School.
Feedback from our Prep pupils was overwhelmingly positive. Pupils and staff expressed their appreciation for the hard work and creativity that went into the production. “Thank you for a wonderful pantomime this morning – we all loved it,” said Year 3 teacher Mrs House. “What a treat for a Monday morning! You were all awesome, including Mr Brooker!”
A number of our Year 3 and 6 pupils shared their excitement, with quotes such as:
- “The pantomime this morning was funny and entertaining.” – Dolcie (Year 3)
- “The play was awesome! It was so funny, and the acting was phenomenal!” – Minerva (Year 6)
- “Mr Brooker’s outfit was great, and he was a very convincing elf!” – Ottilie (Year 3)
- “Mr Brooker really fitted the part he played as a naughty elf. All the actors were fantastic! Thank you!” – Peach (Year 3)
- “I really enjoyed watching the senior school panto, especially when they were throwing snowballs at us.”– Folarin (Year 6)
For Annabelle, a Year 9 performer, the experience was equally rewarding: “I loved the fact that we were able to showcase our hard work and take it to local primary schools. The reaction of the children gave me a real buzz.”
The play was met with glowing praise from Headteacher Mrs Ovenden of Wherwell Primary School, who remarked: “I would just like to say a huge thank you to the staff and children for a fantastic festive play. I can see how hard the students have worked on this as it was a very polished performance, which was a lot of fun. Our children absolutely loved it.”
We are thrilled to have been able to share our creative efforts with the local community, bringing some holiday joy to children in nearby primary schools. ‘Santa’s Dilemma’ will surely be remembered as a highlight of the festive season for all involved.
