In May last year, Rookwood School was awarded the Gold Award for the fourth year running by the School Games Sports Mark. Following this, Mr Mills, our Head of Sports, said his next goal was to be awarded the Platinum Sports Mark award. We are, therefore, delighted to announce we have now been awarded the highest award of Platinum.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. To achieve platinum, we have had to evidence ourselves as gold standard for the last four years and have now been awarded with the highest commendation.
A special thanks to Mr Mills, Mr Brewer, Mrs Kerrison and Mr Few for their hard work and dedication to all students in PE across the school.
