Audiences delighted by drama performances

Grease at Rookwood School

Performing arts plays a vital role in our curriculum at Rookwood, nurturing creativity, self-expression, and teamwork. This term, the stage has been alive with excitement and talent as pupils showcased their skills in two unforgettable productions: ‘Grease’ and ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Camelot.’ These performances not only entertained our audiences but also highlighted the dedication and collaborative spirit of our exceptional pupils and team.

‘Grease,’ a beloved classic musical, came to life at The Lights theatre in Andover with electrifying performances and nostalgic tunes that transported everyone back to the 1950s. Our talented cast brought iconic characters like Danny, Sandy, Rizzo, and the T-Birds to life, capturing the essence of teenage dreams, friendship, and love. From the catchy songs to the energetic dance numbers, ‘Grease’ resonated with pupils, parents, and staff, showcasing the vibrant spirit of our performing arts community to a sold-out theatre.

In addition to ‘Grease,’ our Prep School pupils delighted audiences with ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Camelot,’ a play filled with laughter and adventure. The cast’s confident stage presence and dedication to their roles made this production a joyous experience for everyone involved, and their comedic timing and musical talent was incredibly impressive.

These successful performances were the result of hard work and talent from our pupils, supported by our dedicated team. Countless hours of rehearsals, set design, costume creation, and technical preparations culminated in evenings of entertainment that will be cherished for years to come.

At Rookwood School, we prioritise nurturing creativity, fostering teamwork, and providing opportunities for pupils to shine both on and off the stage. The success of ‘Grease’ and ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Camelot’ reflects our commitment to excellence in the arts and showcases the immense talent within our school community.
