A Term of Community and Connection

As we approach the end of a vibrant and eventful term at Rookwood School, we reflect on the key moments that brought our school community together. From prospective Sixth Form families to our youngest pupils in Little Rooks Nursery, the term has been marked by shared experiences, celebrations, and a sense of unity.

Welcoming Prospective Sixth Form Families:
In September, we opened our doors to prospective Sixth Form families during our Sixth Form Open Evening. Families had the opportunity to hear from our Head of Sixth Form, Mr. Howard Smith, who shared insights into the unique offerings of our Sixth Form experience. From ongoing personalised 1:1 support to the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and a focus on personal effectiveness, leadership, and enrichment, families gained a comprehensive understanding of what Rookwood’ Sixth Form has to offer.

Prep School’s Autumn Day Extravaganza:
Autumn came alive for our Prep School pupils during the ‘Autumn Day’ celebration, a delightful event organized by the Friends of Rookwood School. From pumpkin crafting to doughnut-eating competitions and nature-inspired activities, the day provided a welcome break from the routine, fostering a sense of community and joy.

Ambitions Day:
Our first Ambitions Day, orchestrated by our Careers & Progression Advisor, Mrs. Sarah Singlehurst, was a dynamic exploration of future career paths. Pupils from Year 7 to Sixth Form were inspired through enlightening sessions, gaining valuable insights into their potential career journeys. Special thanks to the special guests, including parents, and dedicated staff who contributed to making Ambitions Day a resounding success.

Meet the Chef:
Following the appointment of our brand new chef, Mr. Nick Price, we hosted a Meet the Chef event, providing parents with the opportunity to sample dishes from the school menu, ask questions, and hear about Mr. Price’s vision for the future of Rookwood School’s catering. It was a delightful occasion that fostered communication and collaboration between the school and parents.

Introduction to Reception:
To support families with children starting school in September 2024, we hosted an Introduction to Reception event. Parents gained insights into a typical day, heard from specialist teachers, and viewed examples of children’s work.

Christmas Celebrations:
December brought the spirit of the festive season to Rookwood School. Our annual Christmas Fair, kindly organised by Friends of Rookwood School (FORS), offered families the chance to enjoy Father Christmas in his grotto, write letters to Santa, and indulge in delicious treats. The fair also featured a variety of goodies from local stallholders, creating a festive atmosphere for all.

Inspired by Selfridges, Rookwood School hosted Elfridges—an enchanting shopping experience tailored for our youngest pupils. Another event kindly organised by FORS, Elfridges allowed pupils from Little Rooks Nursery to Year 6 to select and purchase gifts, wrapping them for their families. A heartfelt thank you to FORS for coordinating this special event and raising valuable funds.

As we look back on these moments, we are reminded of the strength and warmth of our school community. May the spirit of togetherness and celebration continue to flourish in the terms to come. Wishing all our Rookwood families a joyful festive season and a wonderful New Year!
