Friends of Rookwood

FORS

Friends of Rookwood School (FORS) is the Rookwood School charity. It is run by a committee of parents and teachers. We exist to strengthen the Rookwood community and enrich the school experience for our pupils. We do this through:

  • Fun: Organising fun and engaging activities for pupils
  • Friendship: Hosting social events to bring parents together
  • Fundraising: Raising funds to support meaningful school initiatives

What’s coming up?

We are busy planning our next events – expect more fun for pupils, chances to connect as a parent community, and opportunities to support the school. Watch this space for dates and details!

What we do throughout the year:

Working hand-in-hand with Rookwood staff, the FORS committee has delivered:

  • Christmas Fayre, featuring Elfridges – a magical shopping experience for our youngest pupils
  • Penny Wars – an exciting inter-house fundraiser
  • Christmas Card Fundraiser
  • Golden Ticket Lottery, inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for World Book Day
  • Refreshments at School Plays & Sports Day

We’ve also hosted much-loved favourites including:

  • Quiz Night
  • Junior Discos
  • Parents’ Tea on the Lawn
  • Phil the Bag recycling fundraiser
  • Drinks at Music Evenings & School Plays
  • Family Fun night

Our big event: Rookwood Fireworks Night

Each year, our highlight is the Rookwood Fireworks Night – a spectacular evening for the whole community. In 2024, over 700 friends of the school attended, helping us raise more than £4,000 for projects directly benefiting the pupils and the school!

Upcoming projects for 2025/26

Creation of a Quiet Garden

We are proud to back a new school initiative – the development of a Quiet Garden. This special space will provide a calm, reflective area where pupils and staff can pause, breathe, and reset – or remember someone special. We’d love any support from parents to help make this vision a reality.

Enhancing gym equipment

We’re also in the planning stages for enhancing the school’s gym equipment – helping pupils stay active, healthy, and motivated.

What FORS has funded to date

Thanks to parent support, we have been able to contribute to many enriching additions across the school:

🛝 Play equipment in the Rookery and Nursery

🏴‍☠️ Pirate Ship for Prep School

💻 iPads and Apple TVs across the school

📷 Cameras for staff and pupils

🎽 Team sports kits for Prep and Senior School

🪑 Library furniture and picnic benches

📺 TV for Boarders

🎤 PA system for the Music Department

🎭 Main Hall improvements

How you can get involved

We know there’s a wealth of energy, ideas and generosity within our school community. Whether it’s helping at an event, bringing new ideas, or contributing in other ways – we’d love to have you involved.
