Voice in a Million

On Wednesday 23rd March 2022 Rookwood School’s Lower and Senior School choirs merged to create a massed choir heading to Wembley Arena in London for the highlight of their school choir calendar. The choir attended Voice in a Million, a project founded in 2009 to raise awareness for children who have been orphaned, abandoned or separated from their parents. The project is one of the largest children’s choirs in the world.

Rookwood’s choirs have been working hard since September to learn all the songs and dance moves for the event. They participated in rehearsals during the afternoon and took part in a final evening performance to a packed arena. Rookwood also enjoyed taking part in the banner parade which saw our beautiful banner, designed and created by Mrs. Treasure and her pupil helpers, displayed on the main stage at the start of the event. This was the most exciting events and one which our pupils will remember for a very long time.

LAMDA

It has been a very successful term for the Rookwood LAMDA students taught our very own Mrs Blackmore. All fifteen gained a distinction which is 80% and above. These fantastic results are a HUGE credit not only to their dedication and determination, but also their talent in this subject. “I am immensely proud of them all, it is an absolute pleasure to guide them through these highly acclaimed and internationally recognised examinations” – Mrs Blackmore (Head of Drama).

Sophie in year 10 took her Grade 6 Bronze medal which means that she has secured UCAS points for University already.

Many of the LAMDA students are also taking part in our forthcoming school production of High School Musical on the 27th and 28th June. Don’t forget to buy your tickets from the Lights box office/website available from the 1st April.
