Rook News Summer 2021

At Rookwood School, we have got a summer of fun planned, filled with a variety of activities to allow children to gain skills, discover new passions, and make lasting friendships. This summer, we are running Camp Rookwood, our holiday camp, from the 12th of July until the 20th of August. Additionally, Rookwood Swim will also be holding swimming lessons from the 12th of July until the 13th of August.

Rookwood Swim

Swimming lessons are open to children of all levels as classes will be adapted to suit different development stages. Our courses will last a week and will offer skills development for pre-school and beginners, as well as submerging, diving, and stroke improvement for those with some experience. The classes are 30 minutes each and are available from Monday to Friday between 11am and 2pm. Our pool is also available for private hire and use by Rookwood families.

Camp Rookwood

Our summer camp, Camp Rookwood, is open to all children and will be packed full of adventure and creativity, running from 8:30am until 4pm, with the option to extend until 5pm. There will be a variety of activities to get involved in, from swimming, sports, music, drama, crafting, and more.  This is an incredible opportunity for children to have the freedom to gain skills, discover new interests and socialise with friends throughout summer. These are some of the activities they will be getting up to:

  • Sports – rounders, tennis, football, dodge ball and many more
  • Arts – music, drama, dance, crafting, painting, clay, papier mache
  • Swimming in our 25m heated outdoor pool
  • Outside adventure across the grounds and scientific discovery

We are hosting a 4-day Performing Arts Camp (12th-15th July) for children aged 9-13, focusing primarily on musical theatre. We will be exploring the best hits from some of the most renowned musicals and will be working towards an end performance for family and friends.

There will also be a Sports week (12th-16th July) for the children who have a passion for sports. This is a chance for those aged 10-13 years old to enjoy a range of sports including Badminton, Swimming, Football, Rounders and many more.
