Rookwood School was inspected by The Independent School Inspectorate (ISI) in January 2026.

Highlights from our latest inspection

“Leaders promote an inclusive and nurturing environment for pupils to develop academically as well as socially.”
The report highlights that “teachers plan lessons well, with careful consideration of pupils’ prior attainment, needs and interests.” It also notes that teachers “develop positive relationships with pupils so that pupils are confident to participate in discussions and ask questions.”
The curriculum enables pupils to develop new knowledge and skills in a range of subjects. They also note that leaders review and adapt the curriculum “to meet the needs of pupils.”
“A comprehensive careers programme encourages pupils across the school to think about their aspirations in age-appropriate ways.” As a result, “pupils are well prepared for their next steps in education and life beyond the school.”
Leaders “ensure that pupils’ mental health and emotional wellbeing are promoted.”
“Leaders ensure that pupils who have special educational needs are supported with appropriate strategies and resources to meet their individual needs so that they make good progress from their starting points.”

Further findings

Pupils have strong study skills, which develop their capacity to synthesise information from a range of sources and hypothesise accurately.
Pupils make a strong contribution to the life of the school and the wider community.
Principles and values are actively promoted which facilitate the personal development of pupils as responsible, tolerant and law-abiding citizens.
Pupils develop leadership through formal positions of responsibility, such as form captain or school council representative. In this way, they make a significant contribution to the wellbeing of other members of the school community.
