Following careful consideration, the Governing Body, in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, has taken the decision that Rookwood will no longer offer a Sixth Form from the end of this academic year.
This reflects a sustained trend of Year 11 pupils choosing to continue their education at other schools or colleges, resulting in numbers that are no longer sufficient to sustain a Sixth Form that is both educationally enriching and financially viable.
The Sixth Form was established in 2021 in response to parental demand following the pandemic, and over the past five years it has provided valuable opportunities for students. Many have gone on to secure places at their chosen universities, employment, and a range of other successful pathways.
While this news may be disappointing for some, it allows us to focus our time, expertise and resources on what we do best: delivering an outstanding education from Nursery through to Year 11.
We remain firmly committed to ensuring that every pupil at Rookwood is supported to achieve their potential and is well prepared for the next stage of their education.
