Rookwood talent recognised in regional ISA Art Competition

Student showcasing winning artwork

The Art Department is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students at the Independent Schools Association Regional Art Competition. Amanda in Year 8 won First Prize for her exceptional still life drawing, showcasing remarkable technical skill and artistic maturity.

Amanda explained that she set herself a significant challenge by working entirely in graphite pencil, using cross-hatching techniques to build complex layers of tone and create a striking three-dimensional effect. Her piece impressed the judges with its precision, depth, and confident execution.

We are also very proud of former student Evie Mills, who was highly commended for her stunning textiles piece created in response to the theme Flora and Fauna. Evie’s work combined crochet, beading, machine appliqué, and hand embroidery, demonstrating both creativity and a mastery of technique.

Congratulations to both Amanda and Evie for their exceptional accomplishments and for representing the school with such artistic excellence.
