Rookwood School celebrates 2024 GCSE results

GCSE student receiving results

We are proud to announce our 2024 GCSE results which reflect the school’s commitment to providing a highly supportive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive regardless of their starting point.

Students achieved grades well above the national average, with 97% of students achieving five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including English and Maths. We are delighted that 36% of our grades were at Grade 7 or above, compared to a UK national average of 21.8%. With 93% of all grades at Grade 4 or above, compared to a national average of 67.6%, we are delighted with the progress of all students.

Commenting on this year’s results, Mrs Jennifer Jellard, Acting Head at Rookwood School, said, “As a non-selective school, we are always delighted with the progress our students make during their time at Rookwood. Students develop their skills both academically and more broadly through their extra-curricular activities. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our students for their outstanding achievements and thank our dedicated staff and supportive community for their unwavering commitment to Rookwood’s success.”

Among the top achiever’s this year is Neal, who achieved 7 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s and 1 Grade 7. Reflecting on his success, Neal said, “Rookwood has been a brilliant experience, and the teachers’ support is something I will forever be grateful for.” Neal’s mother, Zankhana, was delighted with Neal’s results. “Neal’s ambition to become a doctor is now within reach thanks to his excellent results,” she said. Neal will continue his academic journey at grammar school, Bishop Wordsworth’s School, to study Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Further Maths at A Level.

Another standout student, Harriet, achieved 4 Grade 9s, 4 Grade 8s and 2 Grade 6s. “I can’t believe it! I really didn’t think I’d do as well as I have,” she said. Commenting on Harriet’s performance, her mother, Jo, praised her daughter’s calm and measured approach to her studies, calling the results “simply magical.” Harriet will be attending Duke of York’s Royal Military School with a hockey scholarship, and her academic performance has also qualified her for an academic scholarship.

We congratulate all our students and wish them every success in their future endeavours.
