Another year of GCSE success for Rookwood students

Rookwood School is delighted that, once more, our Year 11 students have achieved excellent GCSE results.  Whilst 2020 has been a highly unusual year for exam grading, it is important to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our Year 11 students over the past two years.  We are pleased that the Government has recognised the validity of Centre Assessed Grades and that our students have been rightly awarded the grades they have worked so hard for during their studies.

All of our students achieved six or more GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (equivalent to a Grade C under the old system) including English, Maths and Science, and the majority of GCSEs were awarded at Grade 7 or above (equivalent to an A/A* under the old system).  This is a fantastic set of results and we are delighted that our students will now be able to progress to their chosen Sixth Form setting.

Headmaster, Anthony Kirk-Burgess, said, “whilst exam results are very important for our students to continue their learning journey, I am very proud of the resilience and focus our Year 11 have shown during the lockdown period and I am pleased that they have received the excellent grades they deserve.”

Rookwood students have used the time they would have spent on revision and sitting examinations to develop their key skills and prepare for their A-level courses, supported by our investment in the Seneca learning platform.  Our students have also been hard at work in the community, supporting their local area and in many cases finding employment in key worker settings.  We wish them every success at their chosen college and are delighted that this is the last cohort we will need to say goodbye to at this stage, with the opening of our new Sixth Form in September 2021.
